Scott Fitzgerald the great gatsby LGBTQIA-led, racially diverse footage will be shot by writer Jeremy Holt and artist Felipe Cunha, with color by Dearbhla Kelly. The 8-issue original series kicked off its first installment on November 2 in comic book stores.

“Like many readers around the world, I fell in love with F Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby as soon as I read it,” said series creator and author Jeremy Holt. “Fitzgerald’s writing inspired me to create my own version of this iconic story, but I wanted to make sure I included themes from my own life and experiences and resonated with younger audiences unfamiliar with the story. There’s hardly enough queer and multicultural narrative in entertainment, so I’m really focused on crafting a story that centers on appropriate and authentic representation.”

what’s Gatsby about?

In today’s context, GATSBY is a completely reimagined version of The Great Gatsby. While the protagonists and plot points are familiar from the original, Holt’s rendition will be seen in a new light, re-contextualized for the technological, social norms, and economic endeavors of the 2020s, rather than the 1920s through teenage protagonists. Despite being set nearly 100 years later, the themes of betrayal, power, greed and the American Dream are now as real in GATSBY as they are in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Jazz Age stories.

“Jeremy Holt is a rising star and brilliant writer whose bold voice speaks eloquently and truthfully about the Gen Z experience,” said Axel Alonso, Chief Creative Officer, AWA Studios. “As the most widely read of the last century One of the books we know to respect the great gatsby With this reimagined version, I’m very happy with what Jeremy can bring to the table. By setting GATSBY in modern times with a diverse cast, they put the themes of the original in context that I believe will appeal to new audiences. “
