The 2022 iPhones are still a few weeks away, and the latest rumors are pouring in. Now it looks like we’ve got an idea of what colors the new models will be wearing, which is pretty cool.
Updated August 6th below. This article was first published on August 4, 2022.
whistleblower @Jioriku They have a lot to say about what they think Apple will bring with the phones released this fall, including a list of predicted colors. here they come…
For the iPhone 14, there will be six colors at launch. That’s the same number that’s now available for the iPhone 13. They are white, black, green, red, blue and purple.
Updated August 6th. As you’ll read below, one of the new colors expected for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro is purple. This isn’t the first time a purple iPhone has been around, as both the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 feature such a hue (of course they’re different shades).
But if true, this must be the first time a Pro iPhone has turned purple. Since @Jioriku’s statement, a number of images have emerged trying to show exactly what the new iPhone will look like. While many look a bit lavender or lavender, one render stands out. According to @adry_ghincea, on Twitter, a guy named Tech God (@tgod34748), who was voted the most accurate version of the new color, described himself this way: “My dream is to be a designer, I life is about fashion.”
It’s not clear how authoritative they are on the final color, but it’s certainly a striking shade and is darker and darker than the others. I love so much. When asked how deep and dark it was, the answer was that it looked almost black, depending on the light.
I find this a little surprising. After all, Apple already uses Graphite in the Pro line, and it looks almost black in many lights. Would Apple want another iPhone that was so dark, so dark, that it might be hard to tell the two apart in many situations?
Well, just possible. After all, the green and black colors of the Apple Watch Series 7 are dark and look black in many lighting situations. Its green shade will only glow when green catches the light just right.
In other words, recent colors like Apple Watch Green, or Starlight and Midnight on Apple Watch, iPhone, and MacBook Air, Apple is happy to show us colors that have extra depth with the right lighting.
There are other renders of what the colors look like, and let’s keep in mind that on the iPhone 14 it will almost certainly be a glossy, glossy finish, while the Pro will be a matte finish. This gloss level could cause the iPhone 14 to be brighter than the iPhone 14 Pro.
We have more news.
Now, back to the original leak.
There are four points to note here.
First off, these are definitely not names that Apple would definitely call them. There are no black or white options for the current collection, instead its darkest shade Midnight and Starlight in gorgeous gold and silver with a white back finish. Also, there is no red in the current range, instead PRODUCT(RED) means donating money to a worthy cause.
I’m sure PRODUCT(RED) and Midnight will be the color names for sure, and I’d be surprised if Starlight didn’t exist because it was a success. I would say that blue and green would be the names of these shades.
The second thing to note is that there’s a new color here, purple, that replaces the current pink, although that seems to be popular (it’s a very lovely pastel pink).
But purple is undoubtedly welcome. This isn’t the first purple. There’s a purple iPhone 11 and a dark version with the same name as the iPhone 12. Frankly, both are more lavender than purple. So maybe 2022 will be the first time a deep, visceral purple will appear. Just wait and see.
Third, this also applies to the Pro colors, none of which will be the same as the current version. Every year, Apple changes the colors, even though the name remains the same. Even PRODUCT(RED) is slightly different every year, and I hope it will be the same this time.
The current green is beautiful, but assuming the leaker is correct, this fall will be different.
Fourth, note that the iPhone 13 launched in five colors instead of the six predicted here. A sixth color, green, was added throughout the year. The iPhone 12 came in five colors, but the iPhone 11 came in six at launch, so it’s not impossible.
Then to the iPhone 14 Pro.
The new colors are predicted to be green, silver, gold, graphite and purple. I’m sure Silver, Gold and Graphite are correct (although Graphite may get a name overhaul).
The new purple makes sense, although I think it will have a different name and maybe a different shade from the iPhone 14.
Green will replace the current Alpine Green.
But I just want to point out that there have never been five Pro colors before, there have been four since the Pro launched in 2019. Alpine Green was added to the collection a few months ago. It’s not impossible, but I’m just adding the tiniest bit of skepticism here.
Best of all: We’re just a few dozen days away from knowing everything about the next iPhone.
