At River Bend, there are many connections to many people in Tinsel Town, from shows to music to cartoons.

Here are the seven stars associated with the region:

Rick Yager

Rick Yager: Yager spent his childhood in Alton, eventually attending the Art Institute of Chicago. Walt Disney attended the same school. Jager became a well-known cartoonist when his comic strip Buck Rogers was published and was an instant hit.

Mary Beth Hughes: Hughes was born in Alton and moved when her parents divorced when she was a baby. But she’s still a River Bend native.

Hughes made his mark in B-movies, at one point arranging dates with several Hollywood legends such as Jimmy Stewart and Mickey Rooney.

She starred in the Best Picture nominated film “The Cow Bow Incident” alongside Henry Fonda.

Lauren Holly: She will forever be called the Mary Swanson of Dumb and Dumb, but Lauren Holly has many other credits to her. Other credits include hit films such as Down Periscope and What Women Want. Holly's connection to Reach came from her mother, Michael Ann Holly, who was born in Alton. Michael Ann Holly is known as an art historian.

From the timeless “To Kill a Mockingbird” to his most recent “The Judge,” Duvall returned to River Bend as a Principia College alumnus, where he studied drama.

Principia College is located in Elsa, Illinois. A theater on campus was recently named in his honor.
