“Thirteen Fate” actors and their real-life characters

It has been four years since 12 young boys from Wild Boars Football Club and their coach Ekkapol Chantawong were rescued from Tham Luang Cave in Chiang Rai province in northern Thailand.

They were trapped in the cave for a total of 18 days, with rescue efforts shocking the world and an international diving team working to ensure the boys and their instructors survived.

The rescue was carried out by four British divers, John Wallanson, Richard Stanton, Jason Mullinson and Chris Jewell, as well as two Australians, anaesthetists Richard Harris and Craig · Charon leadership. Thankfully, the Wild Boars and their coach were rescued safely from several cuts and bruises.

Now, the story of their rescue has been brought to the screen.

Three-time Oscar nominee Viggo Mortensen as Richard Stanton, MBE, GM, Thirteen lives.

Stanton, a member of the British Cave Rescue Committee, travelled to Thailand with John Worlanson to provide their expertise to help rescue the boy.

Together, they were the first divers to come into contact with the 12 boys and their instructors, who sat on narrow rock shelves in the “Pattaya Beach” room. When Stanton and Worranson found out they were still alive, they had been trapped there for nine days.

Speaking to CNN about the rescue mission, Stanton said he didn’t “declare it a miracle.”

He shared: “I would say it’s amazing how all these things happened in sequence. It was a collaboration between thousands of people and it was a phenomenal project. It all happened, but I didn’t declare it to be Miracle. Miracle.”

Mortensen is best known for playing Aragorn in Peter Jackson’s film Lord of the Rings and Sigmund Freud a dangerous method.

His other notable credits include Captain Fantastic and green paper, Nominated for an Oscar for his performance.

John Wallanson – Colin Farrell

Irish actor Colin Farrell as British diver John Volanthen, general manager Thirteen lives.

Volanthen takes up cave diving as a hobby and volunteers as a rescue volunteer, and his day job is as an IT consultant in Bristol, UK. However, his life changed in 2018 when he led a cave diving team with Stanton, who rescued 12 boys and their instructors between July 8-10, 2018.

Speaking to Insider about having Golden Globe winner Colin Farrell portray him on screen, Worranson said: “It’s weird to try to teach someone to be you. It’s not what I expected had to be done. things, but what I discovered after watching the film was that a lot of the mannerisms he learned were not the ones I might have expected or tried to teach him.”

Most recently, Farrell played Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin in the film Batmanhe will reprise the role in the HBO Max spinoff of the same name.

Richard “Harry” Harris – Joel Edgerton

Joel Edgerton as Australian anaesthetist and cave diver Richard Harris Thirteen lives.

In July 2018, at the request of Stanton and Volanthen, the Thai government contacted Harris and his diving partner Craig Challen to help them rescue the Wild Boar football team and its coach from Tham Luang Cave.

Harris played a vital role in the rescue effort. When he entered the cave, he conducted a medical assessment of all the boys and their trainer, and on his medical advice ruled that they could be safely rescued by the team, using anesthesia to give them the best hope of survival.

Chris Jewell – Tom Bateman

Tom Bateman as British diver and computer software consultant Chris Jewell Thirteen lives.

Along with Stanton, Wallanson, Jason Mallinson, Harris and Charon, Jewell helped rescue the boy trapped in the cave.

Bateman is best known for his role as Giuliano de’ Medici in Leonardo da Vinci’s film demon and Bowker Murder on the Orient Express and Died on the Nile.

Bateman told the BBC that one day on set, he was trapped underwater for seven minutes.

He shared: “I remember feeling hot and thinking, ‘I’m underwater, but I’m sweating. I can see my heart rate rising and rising. [on a pulse monitor].

“But its wonderful gift is to get over…it’s all in your head. It’s a very safe environment, so every time you do it, get over the ‘I can do it’ Obstacles are a small victory.”

Saman Kunan — Sukollawat Kanaros

Thai actor, model and singer Sukollawat Kanaros as Saman Kunan Thirteen lives.

Coonan, a former Thai Navy SEAL, tragically died while assisting with a rescue mission.

On July 5, Coonan infiltrated cabin 3 to deliver three gas tanks, had difficulty returning, and lost consciousness underwater.

He was pronounced dead at 1 am on July 6. He is 37 years old. He was posthumously awarded the title of Lieutenant General by the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy, and was awarded the Grand Cross of the Knights Grand Cross (First Class), the highest order of the White Elephant, by King Vajiralongkorn.

Ekkapol Chantawong — Teeradon Supapunpinyo

Thai actor Teeradon Supapunpinyo as Ekkapol Chantawong Thirteen livesthe 25-year-old football coach of the Wild Boars.

Chantawong was among the last people rescued from the cave on July 10, 2018.

At the time, Cham Tawang was stateless, along with several other boys on the football team, but nearly a month after he was rescued, he was granted Thai citizenship. Today, he runs his own football academy in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand.
